AMENO Presents - Tips for Boards and Schools on Community Outreach and Parent Engagement
In April 2009, the Ministry of Education launched its new equity strategy - Realizing the Promise of Diversity: Ontario's Equity and Inclusive Education Strategy. AMENO, a critical voice in education since 1987, was instrumental throughout the process. AMENO is pleased to launch this brochure as a tool to assist in the implementation of the Strategy and Board equity and inclusive education policies.
Meeting with the Honourable Kathleen Wynne, May 11th, 2009.
A delegation from AMENO met Minister Wynne, in advance of the May 21st conference. AMENO members, Sandy Yep, Mary Samuel, Angela Bosco & Kurt McIntosh provided feedback on the implementation of Ontario’s Equity and Inclusive Education Strategy. They outlined three areas of concern: Strengthen the analysis and understanding of equity and inclusive education throughout the education sector; carve out explicit equity directives within current Ministry programs eg. Character Education, Literacy & Numeracy, etc. and maintain a strong emphasis on accountability and the measurement of outcomes and results.

At the meeting, AMENO provided input into the draft PPM: Developing and Implementing Equity and Inclusive Education Policies in Ontario Schools and the Draft Guidelines for Policy Development and Implementation.
